Raymond R. Sherman

Raymond R. Sherman, 82, of rural Tamaroa, passed away at 9:15 A.M., Saturday, May 25, 2002 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
Raymond was a retired farmer. He was a life-long member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Du Bois. He was a member of the Du Bois Knights of Columbus and the Perry County Farm Bureau. He was a US Navy veteran of W. W. II serving from 1944 to 1946.
Raymond was born March 5, 1920 at Du Bois, IL the son of Leo and Martha (Kania) Sherman.
He married Irene Majewski on July 3, 1943 at Du Bois, IL and she survives.
Raymond is survived by his wife of Tamaroa, three children- Ronald Sherman and wife Linda of Tamaroa, Warren Sherman and wife Janet of Pinckneyville, Diane Kroetz and husband Dale of Mt. Vernon, eight grandchildren- Aaron (Stephanie) Sherman, Marcy (Lee) Swallows, Tina (Shane) Gill, Tammy (Brian) Ratajczyk, Janelle Sherman, Krystle, Rachel and Andrea Kroetz, four great grandchildren- Jacob and Justin Gill, Austin Ratajczyk and Savannah Sherman, three brothers- Clarence, Richard and Bernard Sherman all of Du Bois, four sisters- Adele Zdrowski of Du Bois, Delphine Malawy and Virginia Rynski both of Belleville, Ernestine Kurwicki of Marine, IL, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Evelyn, brother- Ernest, sister- Edna Polczynski and sister-in-law- Dorothy Sherman.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 28, 2002 at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Du Bois with Msgr. Melvin Vandeloo officiating.
Friends called from 4 to 8 P.M., Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa. The Rosary was recited at 7:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
Interment was in the St. Charles Cemetery at Du Bois.
Memorial may be made to the St. Charles Church Building Fund.
